Abstract

The aim of the present research will be to evaluate the performance of broiler chickens fed with pre-starter and starter diets supplemented with probiotics and organic acids, and analyze the economic viability of the production system. To do so, it will be conducted an experiment in which will be used 900 1-d-old male Cobb chicks allotted in a completely randomized design featuring a 2x2+1 factorial arrangement (supplementation with probiotics or not), (supplementation with organic acids or not) and (basal diet with inclusion of antibiotics and anticoccidial), with six replicates of 30 birds per replicate, in a density of 12 birds/m². The treatments will consist of: T1- basal diet - without addition of antibiotics and anticoccidial; T2- basal diet with probiotics addition, T3- basal diet with organic acids addition; T4- basal diet with probiotics and organic acids addition; T5 basal diet with addition of antibiotics and anticoccidial. At 7, 14, 21 and 42-day-old of birds the following performance variables will be analyzed: weight gain, average feed intake, feed conversion, mortality and productive efficiency (IEP), which is calculated only at the end of experiment (42 day-old). At the end of creation is also performed an economic evaluation of the production, which will be based on the performance data of birds during the trial period. The cost of each diet will be calculated according to the prices of ingredients, based on the quotation of the month in which the study will be done. The cost of feed will be determined from the total feed cost per bird multiplied by the diet. The initial value of the bird will be the unit price of the chick a day. The final value of each bird shall be obtained by multiplying the gross weight and the final average price per kilogram of live chicken.
