Abstract

This subproject has as main goal to carry out a study (diagnostic-prognostic) of biogeographical systems in the state of Piauí. The especial snippet of the research is northwest of the town of Altos/Piauí, in which is inserted the Unidade de Conservação "Floresta Nacional de Palmares" ("Palmares National Forest" Unity of Conservation), close to the division with the city of Teresina, which is the first FLONA created in the state of Piauí. The study (diagnostic-prognostic) will be centered on the phytosociological evaluation of the vegetal cover. The FLONA of Palmares is inserted in an area of transition of morphoclimatic domain and assumes characteristics of semideciduous seasonal forest, with a relief that varies from flat to gently undulating. The theoretical-methodological approach will be based on the GTP model (Geosystem - Territory - Landscape) proposed by G. Bertrand (2002). The procedures of the research will contemplate a completely bibliographical review about the thematic and, notedly, the phytosociological surveys according to Braun Blanquet's proposal. The cartography of the area of study will be elaborated from the researches about the ground previously (posteriorly) supported by data provided by topographic maps, air photos and satellite images.
