Investigate the action of aspects phonetic-phonological in spelling acquisition is the general concern of this research. Specifically, taking account the relation phonology / orthography, our proposal is to investigate the performance of spelling sonorants consonants in simple attack position syllabic. Three objectives will guide the development of research: (1) describe the spelling performance of children in relation to the registration of contrasts between sonorants consonants of Brazilian Portuguese, (2) verify that the record unconventional these consonants is influenced by accent in the word, and (3) categorize the types of substitutions orthographic in function phonological features of the language. Productions of 76 children attending first grade of elementary education, in 2001, in two public schools inland city of São Paulo, will be analyzed. These productions part of Research Group "Studies on language" (GPEL/CNPq)'s database. The productions are for 14 different thematic proposals collected fortnightly in the classroom. In the data analysis will be observed: the relationship between hits and mistakes, the relationship between records unconventional and lexical stress, and the relationship between spelling and phonological features of phonemes sonorants.
