Abstract

The purpose of this project will be to develop and characterize a metal alloy of experimental Co-Cr-Mo, with high percentage of Mo for dental appliance. Three Co-Cr-Mo alloys will be developed with different percentages of Mo and different processing techniques. L1 alloy, certified alloy (ASTM F75) for comparison; L2 alloy, commercially certified, Mo commercial purity enhanced; L3 alloy, an alloy built up from commercial purity constituents. Alloys with 6%, 7% and 8% of Mo (L2A,L2B,L2C,L3A,L3B,L3C, respectively) will be developed. After obtaining the alloys, mechanical tests for the characterization of the material will be performed: X-ray diffraction (XRD), tensile test, 3-point bending test, Vickers hardness, corrosion resistance, profilometry, fatigue test, SEM and EDS; and tribocorrosion. Results will be submitted to compatible statistical analysis. (AU)
