Abstract

The melano-macrophage centres are clusters of cells that contain pigments, usually found within the matrix of the reticuloendothelial in hematopoietic tissues and to a lower extent in the submucosa of the intestine, thymus, gills, gonads and brain of the teleost fish. The appearance of these structures is related to several factors and conditions such as organ, age, nutritional status, as well as environmental changes. Studies to understand the formation and function of melano-macrophage centres are still not enough, because there are controversies and gaps especially in regard to its formation and function. These structures are used on many occasions as bioindicators of environmental impact, as well as to assess the state of health of the animal, finding many differences in how it is methodologies. These structures are used on many occasions as bioindicator of environmental impact, as well as to assess the state of health of the animal, lying many methodological differences. This proposal intends to continue the line of research on the comparative study of CMMs and melanomacrophages (MMs) of Oreochromis niloticus inoculates with Aeromonas hydrophila or Mycobacterium marinum and evaluate the number and area of CMMS and its constitution pigment, description ultrastructural, expression of membrane receptors by using immunocytochemistry and immunohistochemistry, and to evaluate the formation of MMs, and their phagocytic ability in vitro to stimulation with A. hydrophila, M. marinum and natural melanin. At the conclude of this study is expected to contribute to clarification of the formation and functioning of morpho biometric CMMs and MMs as well as demonstrate the membrane receptors that can be expressed in phagocytes when experimentally stimulated by bacteria in vivo and in vitro.
