Abstract

Augmentative and alternative communication systems can contribute to the acquisition and development of language, the development of communicative competence and can also include the student with disabilities in different educational activities. Thus, the objectives of this project are: to analyze the process of teacher training in an intervention program for augmentative and alternative communication in school; to identify the teacher's performance during the training process and systematize a proposal of strategies, resources, and educational activities by means of children's songs adapted with augmentative and alternative communication systems. These goals are a continuation of a larger research that began at the Master's Degree regarding the use of Alternative Communication Technology in Early Childhood Education. Data collection occurred from May to December 2010. The participants were a class of kindergarten which has seven students with disabilities, the teacher, two room aides and three classes of regular education. For the development of the research, a program of alternative communication was applied consisting of three stages. Data were collected through audio recording, filming, the use of the log book and the use of protocols. For data analysis, the information will be laid out in a single written text and a qualitative analysis identifying themes and subthemes content analysis will take place. After an analysis and discussion of the data, the proposed strategies and educational activities using children's songs adapted with augmentative and alternative communication systems will be systematized.
