Abstract

Actinobacteria are Gram-positive bacteria with high G+C content and high potential of producing many secondary metabolites. Actinomycetes are many studied due to high potential in producing antibiotics is very common to observe the appearance of these bacteria in the soil, but is marine habitat with most marine diversity of the planet , and it is estimated that new habitats still actinomycetes not be exploited as sources of new secondary metabolites. This proposal aims to select the actinomycetes from the collection of bacteria isolated from the marine environment and kept the research collection of the Division of Microbial Resources. The strains groups are selected using specific primers and then be identified by sequence analysis of the rDNA operon. Finally actinomycetes will be deposited in CBMAI for future research aimed at investigating the antimicrobial potential of actinomycetes and other compounds with biotechnological potential.
