Abstract

As part of a doctoral research on the changes in Brazilian and Argentinian publishing fields in the 1990s and 2000s, it is necessary to do a theoretical and empirical incursion at Buenos Aires, the "publishing capital" of the neighbor country. I will collect essential information on the socio-historical conditions of the publishing activity in that country, on the actions of its sectorial institutions, and on the socio-professional trajectories of the book publishers, especially the self-called "independents". Besides of attending seminars, the plan includes complementary bibliographical research, interviews with agents of the publishing field and some in loco observation of sectorial events, such as book fairs. The elected institution is the Centro de Historia Intelectual del Departamento de Ciencias Sociales de la Universidad Nacional de Quilmes (UNQ), which brings together a consolidated research group dedicated to the study of the intellectual, cultural and artistic life in Latin America.
