New ways of communicating and the emergency of social journalism: analysis of the net news media

Abstract

The aim of this scientific research is to analyze some informative activities, which we will call Informative Media or Social Journalism, that is, the practice of news dissemination, with the means of spreading and mobilizing organized activities through social movements. It is our goal to have a reading of possibilities of the internet as a social tool, gathering concepts and methods that will help us to rethink journalistic activity and cultural and informative products which will generate within public and general perspectives, as well as to be a part from ideological and publicist reasons. As a second goal, there is the analysis of forms and means of communication used by protesters in recent riots in Brazil, of which the media mainly used internet resources. We will study the result of such protests covered by the regular media, as well as the ones made using alternative coverage. For that, we have selected Veja magazine, Folha de São Paulo newspaper, and G1 News channel. In the non-commercial area, we will observe Brasil de Fato newspaper, Caros Amigos magazine, and several publications called NINJA media. The reason for the choice of those is because they are the most respected publications when traditional communication is considered and, on the other hand, alternative independent journalism. All things considered, will positively contribute to helping develop a new generation of resources and contents of alternative communication, having had political and cultural resistance and social activism as strong marks of the press and alternative means of communication.(AU)
