Abstract

The Cultural Studies emerge in post-war England as an intellectual movemente that sought a new way to treat "culture". Among the main authors that were in the formation of this movement there is the jamaican Stuart Hall. What issues are privileged in his work? What are his intellectual concerns? This project has as a goal to answer these questions, at the same time that aims a new perspective on the appropriation of the the author's work by the areas of Sociology dedicated to the study of race and ethnicity; are there any stablished dialogues with Stuart Hall by part of brazilian Sociology and, if the answer is affirmative, which texts are being read? To investigate Hall's work and his dialogue with brazilian Social Sciences configurate, thereby, the two axes of this project, that articulated together seek to contribute on the comprehension of the reception of Cultural Studies in Brazil.
