Abstract The objective of this study is to evaluate the evolution of the bone synthesis induces by the periosteal tissue in critical size defects in rats calvarias through histomorphometric and tomographic analysis. Sixty rats will be use in this study. These animals will be allocate into 3 groups: G1: The critical defects will be not cover with periosteum; G2: The critical defects will be cover with periosteum; G3: The critical defects will be cover with resorbable membrane. Five animals in each group will be evaluate in four experimental periods (3, 7, 15 and 30 days). The volume of bone formation associated with defects will be evaluate by the tomographic analysis. Bone formation in critical defects and histological pattern of newly formed bone will be evaluate by histomorphometric analysis. Regarding the statistical analysis, if the data generate by the analysis will be normal, the parametric tests of ANOVA complemented by Tukey's test will be use for inferential analysis of the data. Otherwise, the nonparametric Kruskal-Wallis complemented by Dunn's test will be use for data analysis. All tests of this study will be apply with a significance level of 95%. | |
