Abstract

The main goal of this project is give an introduction to braid groups. For this, we will study basic concepts and techniques of algebraic topology. In this project the student will study basic topics in Algebraic Topology, particularly fundamental groups of surfaces, the Seifert-Van Kampen theorem and then an introduction of braids groups.
