Abstract Digital Surface Models (DSM) are digital representations that store the heights of points on the terrain surface, including anthropic features and vegetation. Image matching is one of the main important techniques used for DSM generation. However, the available techniques have been developed to match images with low spectral resolution and the correspondence of hyperspectral images for generating DSM has only been marginally exploited. In addition, problems caused by occlusions, repetitive patterns, homogeneous areas and surface discontinuities are still challenges in the matching process, using both single band and multiple spectral bands. Hyperspectral data can be used in several applications, mainly where spectral characterization is needed. The aim of this project is to study, develop, implement and assess techniques of matching multiple images and multiple bands acquired by a hyperspectral camera onboard an UAV platform for the generation of 3D point clouds with spectral information included. To assess the quality of the developed procedure, the obtained DSM will be both analyzed relatively and compared to checkpoints. | |
