Abstract

The aim of this project is to evaluate the effect of irradiation with low intensity laser (GaAlAs - 830nm) on the integration of biomaterials (B) of the xenogenic (EX) and alloplastic origin (EA), and osseointegration of implants (I) in these regions. For this purpose, this project will be divide into two studies. In the study 1it will assess the effect of irradiation with low intensity laser on the integration of the xenogenic and alloplastic graft on the receptor site. 90 rats will be use and these animals will be allocate into 6 groups with 15 animals each : G1 : No biomaterial; G2 : No biomaterial + laser ; G3 : Deproteinized bovine bone (DBB) ; G4 : DBB + Laser irradiation; G5 : ²-tricalcium phosphate / hydroxyapatite (²TCP/HA); G6 : ²TCP/HA + laser . The animals will be euthanize after 30, 60 and 90 days of the surgeries. It will be perform micro-tomographic, histomorphometric, immunohistochemical and qPCR analysis. In the study 2 it will be evaluate the effect of low intensity laser irradiation on the osseointegration of dental implants in grafted areas. It will be use 240 rats that will be randomly allocate into 8 groups with 30 animals in each: G1: DBB; G2 : DBB + laser (on biomaterial and implants); G3 : DBB+ Laser (only on biomaterial); G4 : DBB + laser (only on implants); G5 : ²TCP/HA; G6 : ²TCP/HA + laser on biomaterial and implants); G7 : ²TCP/HA +Laser (only on biomaterial); G8 : ²TCP/HA + laser (only on implants). The implants will be insert after 60 or 120 days of the insertion of biomaterials. The animals will be euthanize 15, 60 and 90 days after the implant placement. It will be perform biomechanical, micro-tomographic, histomorphometric, and immunohistochemical analysis.
