Abstract

Based upon the theoretical and methodological scope from materialistic Discourse Analysis, our project aims mainly at comprehending the discursive processes which produce meaning to woman, reaching the relationship between subjectivity and the space of a city: São Paulo. The research material comprises three TV shows: Aline, Antônia and Alice. The first two TV shows were aired between the years of 2006 and 2011 on the channel Rede Globo de Televisão, and the third one was aired between the years 2008 and 2010 on the channel HBO. In addition to the subjectivation of woman in the city, we intend to explore the subjective treatment of spaces or, better yet, how the protagonists, while building themselves as subjects, subjectively build the space they live in and walk through. Starting on formulations from the narratives of the TV shows, we consider being in the city a way of existence for women, a way for them to subjectivate themselves. Once "the city is the symbolic space with subjects livin inside" (ORLANDI, 2003, p. 21, author's emphasis) and we add: beyond living inside, the subjects, specially through the language, are continuously enunciating and historicizing the ways to relate to such space.
