Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disease characterized by hyperglycemia resulting from changes in insulin secretion, its action or both, with that diabetics are more likely to develop diseases such as dyslipidemia, hypertension, hyperuricemia, renal insufficiency, and atherosclerotic disease compared to the general population.Recent studies have shown that resveratrol mimics caloric restriction condition and provides an improvement in glucose homeostasis and insulin resistance, indicating that it guards the body against metabolic diseases. Therefore, this paper proposes to evaluate the effect of supplementation with Resveratrol glycemic profile, on nutritional parameters, on the assessment of food intake and body composition in type 2 diabetic patients. Thus, will be evaluated 30 subjects with type 2 diabetes, and 30 were healthy, they will be randomized in a double-blind fashion to 300mg of resveratrol supplementation / day, or placebo for 8 weeks.
