Abstract

Co-infections in poultry farming are common and occur mainly by the stocking density, facilitating the spread of horizontal transmission pathogens. The infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) and avian metapneumovirus (aMPV) are respiratory pathogens responsible for economic losses in the poultry industry. The worsening of clinical signs of these infections are related to the presence of other opportunistic pathogens during infection. Considering these aspects, this work aims to investigate the effects of coinfection by IBV and aMPV on the pathogenesis and immunity of broilers. The experiment will consist of 150 day-old specific pathogen free (SPF) chicks divided into six groups. At four, seven, 11, 14 , 21, 28 , 35 and 42 days old,, three birds per group will be necropsied and samples of blood, tear and organs will be collected for the following steps: measurement of i IgG, IgA and IgM antibodies isotypes anti-IBV and anti aMPV by ELISA; quantification of immune cells subpopulations by flow cytometry, assessment of histopathological alterations in the organs, the identification of antigens in tissues by immunohistochemistry, tissue quantification of apoptosis, assessment of tracheal ciliostasis; quantification of viral RNA and cytokine gene expression of granzyme A and marker of CD8 + cytotoxic T lymphocytes by real-time PCR.
