Santo André , SP, Brazil Research place: University of Maryland, College Park, United States Abstract New ingredients are available to understand the subatomic world: the last mixing angle $\theta{13}$ of the leptonic sector was measured and a boson with all characteristics of the Higgs boson have been observed at the LHC. How to use these discoveries to decipher what lies beyond the Standard Model of Particle Physics (MP) is one of the biggest challenges of these times. In this project, we aim to investigate the existence of flavor symmetries that govern the flavor structure of leptons and its consequences. Based on one recent proposal, symmetries containing generalized CP symmetries will be studied. Given the necessity of implementing the spontaneous breaking of theses flavor symmetries in general scalar potentials, another focus is to investigate the possible realizable symmetries in potentials containing different Higgs multiplets, initially focusing on Higgs doublets and singlet’s. The possible consequences in the Higgs physics from scenarios where flavored Higgses are present will be studied as well. Some commonly used examples will be initially analyzed. (AU)
