Abstract

The commercial and service activities are relevant to understanding the new relationships between consumption, urban restructuring and the middle-sized cities restructuring process. Therefore, the restructuring of the Brazilian cities has as one of its many determinations, various elements that redefine their morphologies. Trade activities and services are responsible for absorbing portion of the urban space and, therefore, are responsible for the cities restructuring. Based on the analysis of establishments and employment data, collected from the Annual Report of Social Information (RAIS), provided by the Ministry of Labour and Employment (MTE ) of the Brazilian Federal Government, or from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) , this research aims to map the dynamics of the locational choices of companies responsible for the consumption in the cities studied in the Thematic Project to which it is associated, including: Presidente Prudente, Marília and São Carlos.
