Abstract

Using the theoretical framework presented in [6], it is proposed to develop multi- dimensional time-dependent PDE-based mathematical models as a complement to existing experimental work. Such models would describe from first principles the operation of a VRB, from the point of view of the known electrochemistry and fluid mechanics; in particular, they would relate how the material properties of the porous carbon felts interplay with the electrolyte flow rate to affect the electrochemical reactions and hence the rates of charge and discharge.
