Abstract

This work proposes the study and comparison of direct carboxylation reactions (CO2 capture) and transcarboxilação ( transesterification with DMC) alcohols. The isobutyl alcohol, one of the byproducts of the sugar industry for organic synthesis through the capture and sequestration of carbon dioxide or transesterification with dimethyl carbonate (DMC) carbonate is used. This second synthetic route is interesting, because CO2 is the raw material in the preparation of DMC , replacing phosgene which has great toxicity. The amidine bases -1,5- azabiciclononeno (DBN) and guanidine are used 1,3,4,6,7,8 - hexahydro -2H- pyrimido [1,2 -a] pyrimidine (TBD ) as bases and Organocatalysts alcohol isobutyl alcohol as a model for the study. The preparation of alkyl carbonates is of great importance in different fields of industry, primarily as solvents, intermediates for fine chemicals and pharmaceuticals. The synthesized material is subsequently studied for possible protection and conjugation experiments with cholesterol molecules and amino acids. In Sao Paulo, the extensive areas covered with plantations of sugar cane, and hence the large amount of Sugar and Alcohol Plants, makes the area conducive to the line of research "Development of the Chemistry of Carbon Dioxide . Use of CO2 in Synthesis of Organic Carbamates and Carbonates", developed by the Laboratory of Organic Chemistry Fine FCT - UNESP, Presidente Prudente, which provides a laboratory equipped and researchers already working in this line of research.
