Abstract

Cold water immersion (CWI) appears in the current scenario as an effective technique and widely used in sports, but athletes still respond in different ways. This fact can be explained by the use of different methodologies adopted that do not report the issue dose response. Objective: To investigate, through systematic review, times and temperatures of application of CWI on post-exercise have better outcomes in relation to biochemical, clinical and functional variables. Method: will be considered articles that use cold-water immersion as post-exercise recovery. Articles will be selected from the electronic search in MEDLINE, SciELO, PEDro, EMBASE, Sports Discus and The Cochrane Library databases using the keywords: cryotherapy, cold water immersion; recovery, post-exercise. Will be included randomized controlled trials without restricting sample to find outcomes such as: subjective perception of pain, blood lactate, creatine kinase and muscle strength. The calculations of meta-analyzes will be done using the Comprehensive Meta-Analysis software. Will be considered significant if p <0,05. (AU)
