Abstract This Project of Research Internships Abroad (BEPE) intends to complement the reading of the documentation required for our dissertation, in which we have committed ourselves to study the American problem in the Semanario Patriótico and in the newspapers that derived from it, two of which do not exist entirely online: the Gazeta de Sevilla and the Aurora Patriótica Mallorquina. The Semanario Patriótico began its publication in 1808, shortly after the release of Madrid from the French troops. The journal was written by some members of the former tertúlia that gathered around the poet Manuel Quintana, one of the most radical men of the Spanish enlightenment. Between 1808 and 1812, years in which the journal existed, passed directly through its redaction Manuel Quintana, Juan Álvarez Guerra, José Rebollo, Eugenio de Tapia, José Maria Blanco White, Isidoro Antillón e Alberto Lista, all of them important people during the Independence war. These writers did not remain together during the war, but they all maintained journalistic activities. Among the different journal that came from them, some have made themselves famous, as El Español of Blanco White, and are therefore scanned, totally available online, but others have not been studied and are poorly known, because they have been persecuted since 1814. To read the Gazeta de Sevilla and the Aurora Patriótica Mallorquina is necessary to go to Spain to look for them in the archives. (AU) | |
