Abstract

The project will be developed in the "Scuola di Architettura della Università degli Studi di Firenze (UniFi)", Florence, Italy. In order to gain greater knowledge about the technique used in the construction of ferrocement will be developed activities that bring the research conducted in Italy to the research conducted in Brazil. This project is proposed to relate Brazil and Italy, the country of development the ferrocement material, and investigate at what stage it stands now, if the technique used is the same as the one developed by Pier Luigi Nervi or if any development or improvement has occurred thereof. Data collection will be carried out through literature review and in-depth interviews. Initially bibliographic materials and work done at the university will be collected in order to highlight the theoretical background. Then, present techniques will be identified by analyzing if the ferrocement is still used, either with some improvement or if it remains the same. In addition, will be conducted technical visits to the existing works in Italy of the architect and developer of the material, Pier Luigi Nervi, ensuring greater knowledge about them through theoretical and the practical work. Conclusively, these results obtained in the experiences abroad will be evaluated and compared with the data obtained in Brazil, issuing a report in order to analyze and present possible features found in Italy and how they could be deployed in Brazil.
