Abstract Voltage fluctuations in short term, mainly sags, represent some of the most common events in relation to the power quality. In research related to these disorders, there is a major concern in developing methods for detection and classification. However, one should highlight the localization tasks, which have limited progress, precisely because of the short duration of the disturbances. In this sense, this research aims to develop a system for locating sources of disturbances in voltage variation in short duration. It is noteworthy that this work also aims at the construction of smart meters that (installed in consumers) are able to communicate among themselves and to utility in order to assist in the location of sources that cause the disturbances. Therefore, the smart meters will be responsible for detecting and capturing the disturbance, as well as send the necessary information to the control center of the utility. Consequently, the control center will aggregate and interpret the data from various meters and thus make decisions through intelligent systems, which enable the location of the sources of the disturbances. | |
