Abstract

The research aims to investigate how ruralist practices Rural School Group Butantan, that occurred in the 1930s and 1940s. Situated in the state capital, the school was established in 1932 by a decree issued by Sud Menucci. The teacher Noêmia Saraiva de Matos Cruz was appointed as director and was established as an important mediator in disseminating ruralist practices. School Group in Rural Butantan, the children had theoretical and practical activities of agriculture and animals cares, beyond the official curriculum for the elementary school. The proposed school was experimental in character and was well known in Brazil and other countries. Want to be known as such rural school was positioned in relation to the Butantan neighborhood and the city of São Paulo. Also are expected to know the formation of school culture and practices of ruralists, from the Rural School Group of Butantan, with the intention of contribute to the discussions about the relationship with the field and the town, in school education.
