Abstract

With the increase in life expectancy in the country, due to the decrease in birth and fertility and, concomitantly, the socioeconomic and cultural changes, the elderly have lived longer. However, many of those who live in neighborhoods with social vulnerability, need the services and resources from Public Policy to supply their needs. In this sense, the situation can become even more complex when it comes in elderly stage of weakness due to loss of its functions and disabilities, requiring the presence of a caregiver. Thus, the quantity and quality of care hours may change depending on the conditions of frailty in the elderly and in this process, there is the possibility of an overload occurs therein. This work will use the Database for the research entitled: "The fragility of the elderly and the System of Primary Care Social Assistance". With opinion adopted by the Committee of Ethics in Research, number 72182 on August 14, 2012. The research aims to analyze the caregiver burden, but also highlight the possibilities and limitations of care in the context of social vulnerability. It is a search for a descriptive, cross-sectional, which uses the method of qualitative and quantitative research.
