Abstract Ongoing project: Metalinguistic Lexicon of the Tupinambá/ Nheengatu tradition (XVI-XIX)The presente work goes back to previous studies about the metalanguage of the Tupinambá/ Nheengatu grammatical tradition, which were developed under the umbrella project Documenta Grammaticae et Historiae. Linguistic and Historical Documentary Project (Altman & Coelho 2006-2009; Coelho & Altman 2010- coords.). Aiming at the preparation of an historical dictionary of the occurring metalinguistic terms, its central objective is mapping the metalinguistic relations network among 12 documents of this tradition, namely: (Anchieta 1595, Figueira 1621, Vocabulário da Língua Brasílica (VLB) (Ayrosa 1938[1622]); Anônimo s/d (Códice 69 de Coimbra), Anônimo 1771 (Barros & Lessa 2008[1771]), Anônimo 1795 (Ayrosa 1934[1795]), Rodrigues 1890, Couto de Magalhães 1876, Faria 1858, Dias 1858, Sympson 1877 and Hartt 1937[1872]), including the period [in which they were written], their sources, and their descriptive and explicative principles. We expect to establish, with the greatest possible refinement, and within the framework of the focused tradition, the emergence of the terms and concepts referring to the gramatical description of the languages involved and the - theoretical and chronological - moment in which we can observe the metalanguage's variation and change. | |
