Abstract

The current proposal represents a potential to reduce the costs with the animal nutrition by increase on the average daily gain and/or feed efficiency, which can be obtained with malt uses. So, the objectives this work is: measure growth and feed intake (feed efficiency) of feedlot cattle fed a diet containing barley differing in diastatic power (high versus low); determine the effect of processing on the relationship between diastatic power and growth, feed intake and efficiency of feedlot cattle; and training of graduate student(s) in the areas of nutrition, research and NIRS.
