Abstract

The main goal of this work relies on the study of energy transfer processes between aminoacids and peptides and Ln3+ ions (Ln3+= Eu3+, Tb3+, Sm3+ and Nd3+). Natural and synthesized peptides will be studied with the main objective of optimization processes of light absorption and energy transfer by the adition of relevant species like triptophane and acridone. Hydrated ions, complexes and nanoparticles containing the active ions will be considered in the powder or self-assembled thin films. The light emission efficiency will be evaluated as a function of the energy position of the excited states and also the processing methods. The better understanding of energy transfer processes and the preparation of optimized compounds for bioanalyses and imaging applications are expected. (AU)
