Abstract

The aim of this study is to evaluate and compare the techniques used to maxilla rehabilitation with dental implants (all-on-four or all-on-six), the materials used to make the prosthetic framework and the role of the oblique forces on stress of the prosthesis-implant-system. Three-dimensional finite element models will be built to simulate a fully edentulous maxilla would be rehabilitated with implant-supported full-arch dentures. The models will be made 4 implants positioned according to the technique "all-on-four" (F) and 6 implants according to the technique "all-on-six" (S). Fixed full-arch frameworks will be modeled in each material evaluated: Titanium cp. (Ti), Cobalt- chromium (CoCr) and Zirconia (Zi). All structures will be constructed using specific modeling software (Rhinoceros 4.0 SR8; McNeel North America, Seattle, WA, USA) and then exported to the ANSYS Workbench 12.0.1 program in which the meshes will generated with tetrahedral elements with 10 nodes. All materials were considered to be isotropic, homogeneous and linearly elastic. The models will be divided into groups according clinical situation (all-on-four ou all-on-six) and materials evaluated (Ti, CoCr and Zi). The stress values and stress distribution patterns will be evaluated into two moments: after the tightening of the prosthetic screws with preload correspondent to 10Ncm torque (settlement of the framework); and after the application of 130N oblique load. The results will be analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively through the Von Mises stress (metal and zirconia), maximum principal stress, shear stress and strain (bone tissue).
