Abstract

This project aims to study: 1) the effects of hyperlipidic dietary treatment on energy metabolism and cardiac function after the establishment of ventricular hypertrophy accompanied by diastolic dysfunction in rats with supravalvar aortic stenosis; and 2) to investigate whether enhanced endogenous lipid metabolism exerts a cardioprotective effect during chronic lipid overload, by reducing availability of the toxic lipid intermediates, ceramides and diacylglycerol in transgenic mouse overexpressing cardiac specific diacylglycerol acyltransferase 1.
