Abstract

This doctoral project, whose research is in progress , aims to deepen the theoretical and methodological discussion on the process of spatial restructuring underway in the city of Fortaleza as a result of the transformations brought about by the World Cup being hosted in Brazil this year. However, beyond the investigation of the impacts identified for the construction of this mega event and its consequences for the inhabitants of the host cities, intends with the completion of the internship engage in understanding the processes that produce and move the mega-events intentionally peripheral countries such as Brazil , interfering in the internal policies and production of increasingly unequal entrepreneurial cities with federal support through the resources of the Growth Acceleration Program (PAC). In Fortaleza, road works undertaken by the Pac Cup and Mobility distinguished by large amount of investments made by it and prioritize areas valued by removing its surrounding communities that resist the expropriation process. Being thus questioned the real meaning of these works, which are spatially choicest improvements, restructuring the city in prime locations for consumption, linking the Castellan Arena , the airport and the coastline. In this sense, the standardization of urban mobility has a logistical and operational direction that focuses on corporate use of public space through urban planning strategic character that has wide acceptance of local government (Government of Ceará State and Municipal Government Fortaleza). Thus, so far sought to understand the reasons for these agents in the recovery process of urban space; the reification of urban mobility; the spatial restructuring of metropolitan roads; and contrary to popular resistance in removals from a procedural analysis on the impacts of this mega event, whose legacy is restricted to infrastructural facilities that support the event.
