Abstract

Skin wounds or ulcers occur on a large portion of the population. They are a serious public health problem in Brazil and a constant problem for nursing care. Despite the social importance, there are few systematic studies that assess the knowledge of nurses related to wound care. The objective of this study is to identify the knowledge of nursing professionals in the public health care network with outpatient and hospital activities on the assessment and treatment of wounds. Method: cross-sectional, descriptive and analytical study, a quantitative approach. The instrument will be a structured questionnaire administered to the research subjects who are nurses working in public health care institutions in Bauru. Pre-test with 100 nurses will be conducted to assess the need for supplemental sample , based on multivariate comparisons with an estimated five subjects for each variable included in the final model and at least 10 hits for each item. It is expected that up to 150 interviews are required for sample sufficiency.
