Abstract

The prevalence of cognitive impairment in chronic renal population is high. It is known that other aging -related point of concern relates to the risk of falling. The drop involves the sum of intrinsic factors, among them we have the cognitive decline. Based on these, this study aims to relate the risk of falls and cognitive function in chronic renal failure patients on hemodialysis. This is a correlational study, cross-sectional, which will be held in a Unit of Renal Replacement Therapy in the state of São Paulo. Those who meet the inclusion criteria previously established, will be invited to participate on the study, with signing the consent form. Then individual interviews will be conducted with the application of instruments: characterization of the subjects, Addenbrooke's Cognitive Examination - Revised (ACE -R) and Fall Risk Score (FRS). The project was submitted to the Ethics Committee in Research of the Federal University of São Carlos. (AU)
