Abstract

The first 30 days of life of calves, called the neonatal period is a period of great immunological development. However, several peculiarities in the development of the fetal immune system and the calf in his early postnatal days, makes a moment of immunological vulnerability. Understanding this development is extremely important because this will determine the ability of the calf to become an adult and healthy animal. Therefore, it is proposed in this study to evaluate the pattern of immune response of the neonate in the first 30 days of life, through reviews: phagocytic activity and oxidative metabolism of circulating neutrophils, the relationship between the quantities of CD4 + and CD8 + and circulating cytokine profile of Th1 and Th2. Determining the relation between quality of transfer of passive immunity and the subsequent immune response of the neonate. (AU)
