Abstract

The Apis mellifera honey bee is responsible for the pollination of several kinds of agriculture fields in Brazil. However, the pesticide misuse in the monocultures that is associated to the habitat fragmentation and to pathogens is causing the population decline of bees around the world. The present study aims to evaluate the biological effects of the interaction between the thiametoxam insecticide and picoxystrobin fungicide in larvae and adult of africanized Apis mellifera, by means of chronic exposure to realistic concentrations of both pesticides, as well as to analyze the cellular biomarkers of oxidative stress on the fat body from larvae and worker adult of A. mellifera submitted to bioassays. The selected organ for immuno-histochemical analyses, in order to detect cellular biomarkers, is the fat body because this organ has also the function in xenobiotic metabolism. The information that will be get in the present study, in practice level, might subside future programs of bee's contamination monitoring in the field, using the cellular biomarkers in individuals that could be collected from the apiaries located around the crops.
