Abstract

This research will aim to understand the feast of kings and their meanings in the view of members of the group investigated. Discussed here the Society of Flor do Vale city Florínea/São Paulo and the time frame 1993-2013. To this extent, we analyze the reinterpretation for which the group has been incorporating its history, more specifically on the stabilization of the fiesta celebration in the Exhibition Sebastião Benedito de Paula (1993), the formalization of the Association of Folk Flor do Vale Florínea (2013) as well as the movement of the group on events that occur outside the period of their traditional practice (25 December to 06 January) and the place where the party is held. Thus, by recording the history and transformations of the Flor do Vale Group and the party promoted by them in the present context, we will promote the debate on its preservation as a manifestation of popular culture, part of the intangible heritage of the state of São Paulo.
