Abstract

The project aims the synthesis and characterization of hydrogels based on methacrylates glucose (MGli) and fructose (FMR). These monomers will be synthesized by biocatalytic route, according to the methodology described in the literature. The polymerization / crosslinking of the monomers separately (homopolymer hydrogels), and together (copolymer hydrogels) will be carried out by radical polymerization in aqueous solution (20% w / w), using ammonium persulfate and dimethacrylate as cross-linker and initiator, respectively. Swollen hydrogels will be characterized by 1H and 13C NMR, degree of swelling and thermomechanical tests (compression mode) and in dry form by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). (AU)
