Abstract

The proposed research aims Bahian communist intellectuals who worked in antifascist struggle led by the allies (France, England, USA) and supported by the government of Getúlio Dornelles Vargas in Brazil, during the Second World War. Pondering the difficulties faced by Brazilian communists in the New State, we excel to understand the diverse elements that hampered and allowed communist movement in the local society in the decades from 1930 to 1940, which according to various (auto) biographies and various documents used as sources can be explained not only by political relations, but of alliance, friendship, kinship, party and categorical. This hypothesis is based on the new political history, especially in the work of Sirinelli and Rémond. (AU)
