Abstract

Keloid is a dermical lesion resulting from an abnormal healing process. Most often appear in particular anatomical areas that have undergone trauma to the skin. However, they can also appear spontaneously. According to research, keloids are more common in tropical countries and in black and Asian populations. There is little understanding about the molecular mechanisms leading to the formation of keloids and hypertrophic scars. Historically, many theories have been proposed regarding the formation keloid. However, lately the most accepted is that the keloid is a multifatorial disorder involving nutritional, biochemical, immunological and genetic factors that play a role in abnormal healing process. Cytokines and growth factors are involved in inflammatory scarring and keloid formation processes. Thus, this study aims to know the gene expression of 84 genes mediators healing by PCR array method. Methods: In this study, will be include 10 patients with keloid in specific areas such as ear lobe, in treatment- naive with active lesions and 5 control patients who underwent surgical intervention of aesthetic character( mammoplasty or abdominaplasty). 84 marker genes of healing will be analyzed (kit RT2 Profiler PCR array of Superarray ® Bioscience). The experiments will be done in triplicate.
