Abstract

Statement of problem: Genital HPV infection can cause disorders in health-related quality of life of women who are infected by this virus, since it can trigger precancerous changes in the cervix. In 2010 the instrument Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy - Cervical Dysplasia (FACIT-CD) was published in English and was designed to assess the physical and psychological function of women with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia. Although the questionnaire has been recently translated and adapted to Portuguese (Brazil), it has never been validated. Expected results: Expected to be concluded that the questionnaire is valid, reliable and can be used to measure quality of life in Brazilian women with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia. Scientific and technological challenges and the means and methods to overcome them: This is a methodological study to be conducted at the Cancer Hospital of Barretos, including Prevention and Gynecology Oncology departments, involving 300 women with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) and 100 women without CIN to attend the Prevention service for cervical cytology (Papanicolaou test). The tools to be applied will be: FACIT-CD, the EORTC QLQ-CX24 and SF-12 questionnaires, and also sociodemographic information. The psychometric properties that will be tested are: ease of comprehension of the questionnaire, reliability (internal consistency and reproducibility), construct validity (structural, convergent, divergent and known groups comparison), sensitivity and responsiveness of the questionnaire FACIT-CD.
