Abstract

This project proposes the study of popular culture experienced in Caldas, municipality located to the south of Minas Gerais, from an ancient practice, but present until this day, the tales of haunting. The hybrid religiosity, the mechanisms of fear allied to moral codes of behavior exert diverse influences on the everyday life of the population, provide to us - by the tales of haunting - elements for understanding the mental universe of people, collective experiences and dynamism and perpetuation of traditional practices of popular culture. This way, under the theoretical precepts of cultural history, the main objective is realize the analysis of the narratives of a group of "counters" of stories intended to discuss the permanence of orality in the reproduction of the lifestyle of the group. For both will be perform interviews with the population of the municipality.
