Abstract

The reproductive cycle of snakes are coordinate evolutionarily for genetic factories and synchronize by seasonal weather (four seasons). In the tropical regions the cold of winter is less marked than temperate zones and there is a diversity microclimate inside of biome. It's uncertainty if the difference of temperature and rainfall are capable to change the reproductive cycle in the specie and if these species has plasticity to modify their reproductive strategies. The aim of this research is analyze the influence of climate variation in reproductive cycle of Micrurus corallinus e Micrurus frontalis inside of each specie and between both species. The reproductive cycle will be characterized by morphometric and histology technics using preserved animals from biological collections. These animals will be separated in two zones, according the place of collect, that represent climatically different regions and thus will be evaluated the morphological changes in the gonads on reproductive system. In female will be investigated if there is difference in vitellogenesis comparing two zones. The morphology variable will be value by two-way ANOVA considering the specie and locate as independent variables. By histology, in males, the purpose is define the periods of spermatogenesis, the sperm storage in deferent duct and analyze the variation of hypertrophy in the Sexual Segment of Kidney (SSK). In female will be examined the existence of sperm storage in oviduct. (AU)
