Abstract

This project aims to investigate trajectories of black men and women in post-abolition in Southern mineiro context, more precisely in the city of Pouso Alegre, between the years 1888 and 1930's. Intention is to investigate the strategies and possibilities for social inclusion, as well as expectations of freedom of black men and women in a society marked by experiences and projects of racialization. For this, the study will support various historical sources. Although the issue will be addressed in several studies and in different regions of the country, the originality of this research lies in the lack of this process in the region in focus, marked by a distinct economic and social dynamics of urban centers and regions of large plantations and Southeast Northeastern Brazil.
