Abstract

This proposal stage binds to a research project that aims to test the Actor Network Theory (ANT) as a means to study the production of Brazilian geographical knowledge. The project's time frame the period between the late 1960s and early 1980s During the research, it was identified as a problem the fact that ANT make use of methodologies that are not possible to be employed to study the past . However, we found that also in Avignon University's research in geography being developed with the use of quantitative methodologies, received attention similar to that Brazilian geography gave these methodologies in the period surveyed. Accordingly, Avignon constitutes an important laboratory for research cited earlier. Thus, they intend to make use of qualitative methodologies such as, for example, participant observation to examine the research done in geography at the University of Avignon and test the possibilities of ANT to the study of the geography of production.
