Abstract

This project seeks to observe the women of Sparta in Plutarch's biographic work about Spartan generals of fifth and forth centuries B.C. Therefore, it presents a brief background about women's history and gender issues in Ancient Greek, as well as the current status of these topics, ending with "how" and "why" to avoid the Athenocentrism. Then, it analyzes the Feminine in the polis and the women in Sparta, looking for these in Plutarchian production.
