Abstract

The contagious diseases are the most prevalent in Brazil's sample of domestic canines, being the monocytic ehrlichiosis, caused by Ehrlichia canis bacteria, one of the most severe. Among the symptoms of the disease, the most decrypted by researches are apathy, anorexy, epistaxis and hemorrhage, anemia, and thrombocytopenia, recent researches although, indicates relation of the disease with diverse symptoms related with cardiac injury. The purpose of the present article is to carry out an evaluation of dogs proven infected by E. canis through the electrocardiogram before and after the standard treatment with doxycycline (10 mg/kg), aiming to identify typical variations for the disease.
