Abstract

The proposed study aims to contribute to the debate about professional praxis of Brazilian and Cuban social workers in health policies from both countries. This is not a comparative study, as it would be unfeasible due to each historical, social, political, economic and cultural process. It is important to consider the historical trajectory of a partner as the profession will develop their professional practice in health services, in Brazil and Cuba, considering the experienced economic, political and cultural transformations since the 1960s. To achieve this goal, this discussion is subsidized in bibliographic studies covering topics such as Social Service, Social Work and Health Policy in Cuba and Brazil. Also, semi-structured interviews with Social Service professionals who work in Brazilian Health System (Sistema Único de Saúde) and social workers who work in public health in Cuba will be held, in addition to interviewing teachers of training courses these professionals take in both countries. It is expected that this study can contribute to the debate about the Latin American and Caribbean professional work. (AU)
