Abstract

Evidence shows the mobility of gibberellins (GAs) from the roots to the shoots during development, indicating the involvement of this hormone in the responses of shoots to stress conditions, in particular, the most worrying of abiotic stresses drought. Thus, the objective of this study is to evaluate the importance of roots as a source of GA signaling of water stress to the shoot. For this, we propose the technique of grafting a mutant showing high sensitivity to GA (procera or pro) as rootstock and the missing control of the mutation (Micro-Tom or MT). To this end will be used six treatments consisting of the combination between the control and the mutant plant and the controls without grafting to be analyzed the following responses: (I) Analysis of growth; dry weight of roots and shoots, length, area and density of roots, stem elongation, leaf area of shoots and fluorescence; (II) biochemical analyzes; contents of chlorophylls and carotenoids, enzyme activity, peroxidases, hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and malondealdeído (MDA) as well as quantification of GA in roots and shoots; and (III) molecular analysis of LeDREB2 a gene response to drought stress.
